How do you share your live location while walking?
To share your live location while walking, start a share when you set off, send the link to someone who expects you, and end it when you arrive. 01Match the share to the walk
A daytime stroll in your neighborhood may not need one. A walk home from the train at 11 p.m., a long walk on quiet roads or a route through a place you don't know are when a live link is worth the few seconds it takes. Walking alone through a campus, a parking garage or a quiet stretch between bus stops counts too.
02Send it to the person waiting for you
The best Guardian for a walk is someone who'll notice if you don't show up: the roommate at home, the friend you just left, the partner expecting you for dinner. Add them as a Guardian so alerts reach them by email and push.
03Start the share before you leave the lit area
Start Holler inside the station, the restaurant or the office, not halfway down a dark street. If you're sharing from a phone browser, keep the Holler page open while you walk; switching apps or locking the screen can pause updates.
04Set a return time for your arrival
A return time means nobody has to stare at a map. Set it for a few minutes after you'd normally arrive. If you haven't checked in five minutes after it, Holler's server sends your Guardian an overdue alert, even if your phone died or was taken.
05Know where SOS is
If something feels wrong, SOS notifies your Guardians with your location right away. It does not call 911. If you're in danger, call 911 yourself, or ask your Guardian to.
06End the share when you're inside
Stopping the share tells your Guardian you're home and stops sharing your location. It keeps each share meaningful and your address pattern private.
