Holler vs SafeBeacon (the former Road ID app)
SafeBeacon is the app that used to be called ROAD iD: Run + Ride Safety. It was renamed in version 4.5.1 in early 2026 and is now operated by SafeSignal Inc. It costs $5.99 a month or $49.99 a year. Holler covers the same core job, a live link your people can open in a browser, for free, and adds a return-time check-in.

01Free, with nothing to pay before your first share
SafeBeacon asks for a $5.99 monthly or $49.99 yearly subscription. Holler has no paid plan at all right now, so the live link, SOS and return-time check-in cost nothing.
02Start from a web browser
SafeBeacon needs its phone app. Holler works in the browser on your phone today, and the iPhone app is in private beta.
03Guardians need no app, and can still get push
Both products send your people a link that opens in any browser. Holler Guardians can also turn on app or browser push notifications, on top of email.
04A return-time check-in that runs on the server
Set when you expect to be back. If you have not checked in five minutes after that, Holler's server sends your Guardians an overdue alert, even if your phone app was closed.

SafeBeacon has years of real-world use and a public iPhone and Android app. Holler's iPhone app is still in private beta.
02Text messages and a stationary alert
SafeBeacon can alert contacts by text, and its stationary alert fires after about five minutes without movement. Holler has no SMS yet, and its stationary countdown only runs in a visible web tab.
Which should you pick?
If you want an established App Store app with text alerts and a stationary alert, and $5.99 a month is fine, SafeBeacon does that. If you mainly want a free live link your people can open anywhere, plus a return-time check-in, try Holler, knowing its iPhone app is still in beta.

Its website describes accident sensing as an alert after about five minutes without movement, and the 911 option appears to place a call from your phone. We found no mention of impact sensing or a monitored dispatch center. Holler has neither crash detection nor monitored dispatch.
Can my SafeBeacon Guardians use Holler without installing anything?
Yes. Holler Guardians open your live link in any web browser, with no account. If they want faster notice, they can turn on browser or app push in addition to email.
Does Holler have an Apple Watch app?
