How we write our safety guides

Holler's guides, answers and tools are written by the Holler team, the people who build the app. Safety advice that is wrong can hurt someone, so we hold it to a few simple rules.

We go to the primary source

Medical and emergency guidance comes from bodies like the CDC, the National Weather Service, the National Park Service, the US Coast Guard and national patient organizations. How-to steps for other products come from the maker's own support pages. Every page that relies on outside facts lists its sources at the bottom, and we only cite pages we have actually read.

We don't invent numbers

If a statistic appears on a Holler page, it comes from a named source. If we can't find one, we say it without the number. We don't publish competitor prices unless we have checked them the same day.

We are honest about what Holler can and can't do

Every guide ends with the same short list of what Holler does today and what it doesn't. Holler never contacts 911 or emergency services, doesn't send text messages, and needs a phone signal to share your location. When another tool is the better answer, like a satellite messenger in the backcountry, we say so.

Our pages are general safety information, not medical advice or a substitute for emergency services. For a medical condition, make your plan with your own doctor.
