Sunset, last light and dark: what the words mean Sunset is when the top of the sun drops below the horizon. Last light here means the end of civil twilight, roughly 20 to 40 minutes later in most of the US, when it gets too dark to see obstacles or be seen by drivers without lights. Trees, hills and tall buildings bring the dark sooner, so plan to finish by sunset and treat last light as your margin, not your target.
What Holler does today Share a private live-location link. Guardians open it in any web browser, with no app or account. Send a manual SOS that notifies your Guardians with your location. Set an optional return time. If you have not checked in five minutes after it, Holler's server sends your Guardians an overdue alert, even if your phone app is closed. Notify Guardians by email and by app or browser push. Optional stationary alert: if you stop moving for the time you choose, Holler asks "Are you OK?" and alerts your Guardians if you don't answer. Crash detection (beta, opt-in): a possible hard fall or crash followed by stillness starts an "Are you OK?" countdown, and your Guardians are alerted if you don't respond. It can miss real crashes and can false-alarm. In a browser it only works while the page is open and the screen is on. Run in a phone browser today. The iPhone app is in private beta and not on the App Store yet. Not available yet: SMS or text alerts, monitored 911 dispatch, paid plans. Alerts depend on your phone's signal and battery and on email and push delivery, so they can be delayed or missed. Holler does not contact emergency services. If you are in danger or hurt, call 911.
