How it works

Three steps. Then just go.

Holler is built around the people who worry about you. They get a calm live view while you’re out, and a clear alert only when something needs their attention.

  1. Add your Guardians

    Invite up to five people by email. Each Guardian chooses how they hear from Holler: email, app push, or browser push.

  2. Start an outing

    Tap start and Holler shares a private live link. Optionally set a return time: 30 minutes, 1, 2 or 4 hours out. Extend it or check in any time.

  3. They’ve got you

    Guardians follow the link in any browser. Tap SOS to ask for help. Miss your check-in and, after a 5-minute grace period, Holler alerts them for you.

No leaderboards and no fitness homework. Just the tools that help someone you trust know you’re OK.

  • A private live link

    Your route and latest location on a map. Guardians open it in any browser. No app, no account, nothing to install.

  • Return-time check-in

    Set when you’ll be back. If you don’t check in, our server raises the alert after a 5-minute grace period, even if your phone is off.

  • Manual SOS

    Send a help request to your Guardians with your last shared location. Clear it when you’re OK and they’re told that too.

  • Alerts their way

    Each Guardian picks email, iPhone app push, or browser push, and can stop Holler emails at any time.

  • Know who’s responding

    A Guardian can tap “I’m checking in” on an alert, so you can see who has picked it up and when.

  • Private by default

    Only people with your link can follow you. Live tracking stops when you finish. If an alert is open when the outing ends, the link and last location stay available for up to 24 hours, including after you mark yourself safe. No public feed.

The Road ID app became SafeBeacon and costs $5.99/mo. Holler is free.

If you used the Road ID app to let family follow your runs and rides, Holler works the way you’re used to: your people get a link, open it in a browser, and see where you are. No subscription needed.

What Holler doesn’t do.

A safety tool should be clear about its limits. Here is what to know before you rely on Holler.

  • No text messages yet

    Alerts go out by email, iPhone app push, or browser push. SMS alerts are not available.

  • Crash detection is a beta

    It can miss a real crash and can false-alarm, so it always asks “Are you OK?” first. It's off until you turn it on. Keep using SOS and a return time.

  • Holler never calls emergency services

    Alerts go to the people you chose, not to 911 or a monitoring center. In an emergency, call your local emergency number.

  • Alerts depend on your phone and theirs

    GPS, battery, signal and notification settings all matter, and messages can be delayed or land in spam. On the web, keep the screen on while sharing.
