Which location setting should I choose?

Choose Always and keep Precise Location on if you want your Guardians to keep seeing you while your phone is locked or you use another app. With “While Using the App”, updates stop when Holler is not on screen. Holler only uses your location during an outing you start, and stops when you end it.

To change it: iPhone Settings → Apps → Holler → Location.

Why does Holler ask for notifications?

So it can remind you of your return time, ask “Are you OK?” before a stationary alert goes to your Guardians, and tell you when someone you watch over needs help. You can turn them off in iPhone Settings → Notifications → Holler, but then you won’t see the “Are you OK?” prompt.

My Guardians saw gaps in my route. Why?

iOS can slow location updates with poor signal, in Low Power Mode, or when the battery is very low, and updates stop if Holler is force-quit or the phone turns off. If you lose data, the app keeps recent points and uploads them when you reconnect. Check that location is set to Always.

Sharing and alerts

How do I stop sharing my location?

Open My outing and tap End share, then confirm. On the web, use End on the share screen. Your link stops showing your location straight away, and the app stops collecting location. Links also expire on their own after 24 hours.

Does Holler call 911?

No. Holler tells the Guardians you chose. It never contacts emergency services and nobody at Holler monitors outings. During an outing the app has a Call 911 button that opens your phone’s dialer, and your Guardians see the same option on your live link. If you are in danger, call emergency services yourself.

I pressed SOS by mistake.

Clear the alert from My outing. Your Guardians see that it was cleared. It’s worth sending them a quick message too.

Guardians

Someone added me as a Guardian. How do I stop the emails?

Use the unsubscribe link at the bottom of any Holler email. You don’t need an account, and it stops emails from that person even if they remove and re-add you. If you have a Holler account, you can also switch app and browser alerts off for each person under People. Still getting messages? Write to us.

How do I accept a Guardian invite?

Open the invite link you were sent and follow the steps. You can accept email alerts straight away without an account, or sign in to Holler to get app notifications and see their active outings.

Your data

How do I delete my account?

In the app: Settings → Delete account permanently, then confirm. On the web: sign in and use Delete account on the dashboard. This removes your profile, Guardians, Medical ID, outings and location history from our live database. See the privacy policy for how backups are handled.

How do I delete past outings or my Medical ID?

Settings → Outing history lets you delete one outing or all of them. Settings → Medical ID lets you edit or clear it, and choose whether it is shown to Guardians during an alert.

Can I get a copy of my data?

Yes. Email us from the address on your account and we’ll send it to you.
