Open your share link and send it to at least one Guardian while you still have strong signal at the trailhead. Once you're deeper into the canyon, you may not have service to start sharing later.
02Tell someone your intended route and return time
Text a Guardian the name of the trail or canyon you're walking, roughly how long you expect to be out, and what time you plan to be back. A return time set in the app adds a safety net: miss it by five minutes without checking in and your Guardians get an overdue alert.
03Wear visible clothing on less-trafficked paths
Hillside trails can be isolated, especially on weekday mornings. Wear bright colors or reflective gear so that if you do need help, rescuers and other walkers can spot you more easily.
